The Third Age, which used to be seen as a time of decline, is now viewed as one of renewal.  It is a time of developing and establishing new identities, tapping into creativity, finding ways to reinvent oneself – a time of reflection, and an opportunity to change course.

Recently, the use of the arts has been a successful way of dealing with aging.  Through the use of  writing, poetry, movement, art, drama, music, and song, elders are telling their stories to:

  • Preserve their legacies

  • Identify with their accomplishments

  • Explore unresolved issues

  • Resolve unresolved issues

  • Acknowledge uniqueness

  • Identify or renew passions

  • Deal with transitions

The Third Age Players is one of many groups who reflects on and explores the aging process, educates, and continues to grow and maintain vitality.
